Where do I start with my credit file. Part 2 (What you can control) PDF Print E-mail
Written by Regina Littles
What you can control (Part 2)

1. You can control your inquires which is 10% of your file. Look at how many inquires you have and let some of them age off. Apply only when it does not affect your score as much. For example, if you have too many (6 or more) lay off until at least 2 or 3 will fall off. Then, apply for credit as NEEDED. Note inquires can impact your overall score, especially if you are not doing well in other areas of your file. If you are ok and passing over 90%, then inquires will not matter as much. However, if you are under 70%, then you will need to do well in the inquiry section of your file.

2. Balances are 30% of your file. This is the section where you can get all of your points because all you have to do is pay down your balances. Start first in the revolving section of your file.

3. Prevent any future collections reported to your file. If you are receiving those letters in the mail, don’t avoid them. Try working with the your creditors to prevent them from being reported to your file. Always, get something in writing and pay for your deletions whenever possible.

4. Count the number of installment accounts that you have and pay off any accounts that will reduce your overall installment accounts. My suggestion is to keep under 3 installments at all times.

5. Establish revolving credit accounts and leave them alone. Pay them off quick and let them age on your credit file. Do not close your good revolving credit accounts. Installment accounts are the only accounts you want to close.

6. The length of your credit file also determine your credit score. This is why it is important for young adults to establish credit early. The key is understanding the impact of how the credit will help your file. This system was designed many years ago and consumers make the mistake of establishing credit too late in life. For example, a person who is 30, will have a much higher score than a person that is 18 years old. The clock starts ticking from the first account that you get. In my case, I started at the age of 18, so my score will be much higher compared to someone my age, WHO DID NOT build credit at 18. **Note the credit bureau are very slick and most of the time, they will DELETE YOUR FIRST ACCOUNT, which helps your overall score. It is important to track you first account and make sure it is reported to your credit file. The flip side of this equation is that (if you did not pay that first account) it could do damage to your score.

What is love? PDF Print E-mail
Written by charmaine saunders

"Love makes the world go round," the saying goes, but what is it really?
I'm going to go out on a limb and say I do actually think I know what it is. Unfortunately, I can't supply a one-line dictionary definition; in fact, it's going to take this entire article to explore the subject thoroughly as there are as many opinions and ideas about love as there are people on the planet.

But first, let's understand that what we might think consciously about something isn't necessarily our deep belief. For example, most people will say that love is caring, putting others first, giving of oneself. But if your own unconscious belief about love is that it traps and restricts you, for instance, your outward behavior and choices will approximate your inner belief more readily than any intellectual notion of love. So, let's start our exploration.

There are obviously many different types of love. Love of family is not the same as love of friends or love of country or love of books or love of children or love of spouse. Each one is unique and special and I believe we need a whole range of love-experiences in order to fulfill our potential for emotional and spiritual communication. But most especially we need to cultivate love of self. I say "cultivate" because self-love is largely frowned upon in our society and is generally conditioned out of us by the time we go to school.

Self-love is the foundation of all other loves.

U2: Role Models for Change PDF Print E-mail
Fame has its benefits-lots of money, fancy cars, great vacations anywhere around the world. But the most beneficial attribute of celebrities is their power to influence through charity work. Although several talented actors, musicians, and politicians provide relief for causes such as human rights, AIDS, and adoption, U2's history of charity, change, and positivity is motivational. The band is actively involved with organizations such as Make Poverty History, Live 8, and DATA campaign, which lead singer Bono started. In addition to the DATA campaign, Bono has helped to create the ONE Campaign,(RED) and EDUN, a clothing company which strives to encourage trade with struggling countries with poverty.
